Filigree rectangular lamella for shade
Colours have an influence on people’s state of mind. According to the managing director of the Isar-Amper-Klinikum, the new buildings are intended to improve the image and make it easier for mentally ill people to accept help. Combined in different ways, 440 sliding shutters powder-coated in NCS colours in various shades of red break up the modern grey of the façade. The “Natural Colour System”, or NCS for short, originates from Sweden and comprises 1950 colour shades based on the elementary colours yellow, red, blue, green, black and white. NCS colours are perceived by people as “pure”, i.e. they are colours that cannot be visually assigned to any other colour. The new buildings were to resemble not only the colour but also the design language of the existing buildings. The brief was for sliding shutter systems with shutters, fitted with a filling consisting of rectangular louvres. Project manager Benjamin Ritter developed a filigree rectangular slat as well as the appropriate frame system especially for this clinic building. It had to fit. A sample was made and coated in the specified NCS colour shade.
Security with airy expanded metal
Unauthorised leaving and jumping suicides make a so-called “window security” necessary. In this case, windows were provided with filigree expanded metal. Baier supplied 348 angle frames made of welded aluminium expanded metal mesh to secure the tilt and turn windows. Expanded metal is excellently suited for protective grilles due to its stability. The mesh opening allows a good view and good ventilation when the window is open.
Convenient comfort at the touch of a button
Installation was carried out on three buildings on two floors. The sliding shutter frames with matching guide rails were fixed to the façade by means of powder-coated stainless steel brackets in matching colours. Driven by a 230V motor, the telescopic systems can be conveniently moved into the desired position using a hand-held transmitter or push-button – even when the window is closed. The 230V direct connection motor is a 24V motor with integrated control unit and power supply. This can be connected like a conventional 230V motor without any further control devices inside. This is standard in the sun protection sector. For sliding shutters, Baier usually recommends using a 24V motor as the sliding shutter drive. In this case, a control unit together with a power supply unit for the voltage supply is located inside the building. Low-voltage technology has advantages, as dangerous voltages are not used on the outside of the façade, only extra-low voltages. If necessary, the control units can be easily maintained or replaced from the inside.
