Wooden sliding shutters transform the look of the modern building
“We want to give our guests and customers impulses for a healthy lifestyle and provide them with times of well-being,” explains the managing director of the Freiburg health resort, Rüdiger Wörnle. Accordingly, the entire energy optimisation was also taken into consideration during the new construction and renovation. The storey-high window elements of the façade were shaded with sliding shutters from Baier with sustainability in mind. Sliding shutters provide excellent sun protection and thus reduce the energy costs for cooling the building in summer, improving the energy balance in the long term.
In the new building, special attention was paid to the use of natural materials and warm tones were emphasised in the colour scheme. 121 wooden sliding shutters complement the aesthetic exterior design and were made of Siberian larch. They fit harmoniously into the surroundings of the Mooswald landscape conservation area.
Sliding shutters with wooden slats properly back-ventilated
Wooden façade elements are subject to wear and tear and are therefore exposed to the effects of the weather, such as sun and rain. In order to create the best conditions for a long service life, Baier has developed a frame made of extruded aluminium profiles with a special rear ventilation level. The rear ventilation is the essential component of a well-functioning curtain wall.

Sophisticated sliding shutter technology
The air can circulate and the moisture is thus transported away. The movable shutters should also be pleasing to the eye and so the trapezoidal louvres have been fitted with a retaining strip whose screws are not visible.
Baier develops well thought-out and perfected state-of-the-art solutions that are particularly convincing in detail – decades of experience and the use of innovative technologies offer the highest level of quality.
