Redesign the food counter and cash register for the outdoor catering area
There are about 500,000 visitors a year. At events and major functions, there can be more than 60,000 visitors at a time. Then it’s also a matter of high speed for the on-site catering: Highspeed.
In 2018, the on-site gastronomy, the Arena Diner, was remodelled and reopened. The dining and kitchen area was redesigned and modernised. A new contact point had to be created so that visitors to the outdoor dining area could also quickly receive and pay for their ordered food.
Two goals were to be achieved at the same time:
- To organise the serving of food and payment as smoothly as possible.
- To create a pleasant and service-oriented atmosphere through openness and visual relations.
Shifting windows instead of standing in line
For the guests of the outdoor gastronomy, a large food counter with its own cash desk was integrated into the corrugated sheet metal clad exterior wall. The highlight: to avoid long waiting times, there are two food counters, one of which can also be used as a cash register. This way, guests can be served in a more targeted manner.
For the implementation of the large-format window system, the executing company cooperated with Baier GmbH. The expert for sliding windows offers customised vertical windows with high quality and security:
- 1, 2 or more sashes, telescopic or symmetrical
- Thermally insulated or uninsulated available
- Skylights, sills and side panels available
- Operation: manual or electric
- Counterweights for weight compensation
- With patented fall protection as standard
- Threshold-free version as standard
Large-format window system with separate vertical sliding windows in exterior wall
Baier designed and manufactured a large-format, thermally insulated window system for the outdoor catering area of the fast-food restaurant. To the left and right of a fixed glazing unit, a vertical sliding window was placed as a reach-out.
The vertical sliding windows each have three sashes that can be slid upwards like a telescope. The lower and middle panes slide behind the fixed skylight.
The telescopic upward opening creates a large opening as a convenient serving area. A prerequisite for use as a food servery is, of course, the threshold-free design without a lower cross-frame when the window is open.
In addition, the large opening allows direct contact – also visually – between staff and guest. The fixed glazing in the middle also provides transparency and supports the new, open interior design.
With vertical sliding windows, service in gastronomy does not fall by the (racing) wayside
Both sliding windows are operated manually – the stainless steel handle is part of the system. Of course, the windows can be operated separately. This creates additional flexibility, for example, when there is little activity.
Baier also takes no risks with regard to safety. In addition to the standard patented fall protection, all insulating glazing is made of 6 mm laminated safety glass. This protects people and the building.
The sliding window system may be just a detail – but it perfects the gastronomy with the typical motorsport flair: Here, it’s all about speed, but the personal touch doesn’t fall by the wayside.
