Baier manufactures sliding windows with skylight for a restaurant in a shopping centre
For the huge shopping centre in la Défense, Les Quatre Temps, the sliding window specialists designed and manufactured ten thermally broken vertical sliding windows with additional sound insulation. The 4617mm high and 1990mm wide windows were equipped with electric drive and electric locking and coated in RAL 9016 to match the building’s exterior. The electric motors and the electric locks are controlled via the in-house developed Baier control system type Hyperion 1.
Optimal sound insulation – so that annoying noises stay outside
Windows with skylights create bright rooms. In order to reduce the dimension of the sliding window sashes and still have sufficient natural daylight inside the room, all 10 vertical sliding windows were “enlarged” with skylights. Both skylights and the sliding windows were equipped with safety glass ESG 6mm_16_6mm ESG insulating glazing.
In order to achieve an improved sound and insulation effect, an additional sealing layer was installed around the moving sash. The inside of the windows is equipped with an edged window sill.
Tricky installation situation
Due to the difficult installation area in the special, y-shaped façade, the 500-kg windows could not be inserted into the existing mullion and transom system with a window lifting device. The tricky installation situation required manpower – the vertical sliding windows were largely disassembled into individual components by the fitters on site and hoisted between the façade in front and the actual mullion-transom system. The Baier sliding windows were then reassembled directly in the intended façade opening – the vertical sliding sash and the counterweight were connected to each other and the skylight glazing was inserted. Finally, the entire drive technology was put on and connected.
Competence around the vertical sliding window
A good installation starts with professional installation details and well thought-out planning with the conditions on site. The construction site was located in a heavily frequented area. The “setting up” of the construction site and the delivery of the individual components had to take place in the early morning hours so as not to obstruct the morning rush hour. Every move had to be perfect so that the installation of the ten vertical sliding windows could be completed in the planned 3 working days.
Baier’s credo: For every challenge there is a solution.
Challenges are there to be mastered. Once again, Baier GmbH was able to distinguish itself as a creative and competent partner in the field of vertical sliding windows. The entire order was completed in a record time of 7 weeks. The project managers Johannes Kammler and Jean-Philippe Kaeufling are proud of their capable employees who can simply “get stuck in”.
