Baier-Full-Service – from planning to installation

Baier was already working for the Lerch family in 2012 and manufactured a first-class vertical sliding window for the 4-star-superior Panoramahotel Oberjoch. The Ulm-based company was also allowed to work on the conference and wellness hotel “Das Weitblick Allgäu”, which opened in 2018, and planned, delivered and installed a so-called “swimming pool window”. The vertical sliding window, designed as a swimming pool window, fits in seamlessly with the generous window fronts in the hotel façade. The generous glass surfaces allow, as the hotel name promises, a wide view of the Allgäu Alps.

The 2000-square-metre wellness area offers guests various saunas, a sweat room with plunge pool and a heated outdoor pool with massage jets. In order to offer guests comfortable access from the inside of the wellness oasis to the outdoor pool, an interior access was planned and realised – guests reach the picturesquely located outdoor pool via 7 steps.

Swimming pool window – separates the indoors from the outdoors

The outdoor area is separated from the indoor area with a so-called “swimming pool window”, consisting of a fixed and a movable window sash. The movable sliding sash is submerged a few centimetres into the water surface. The frames of the sliding window elements consist of pre-anodised, thermally insulated aluminium profiles. The so-called skylight, the fixed sash, was realised with triple laminated safety glass. The filling of the movable sliding window sash is made of single-pane safety glass.

Convenient operation of the swimming pool window

The sliding window opens at the touch of a button by means of touchless buttons near the edge of the pool. Both from inside and outside, hotel guests can comfortably open and close the swimming pool window without leaving the water.

The closing of the vertical sliding window can be adjusted individually and according to the customer’s wishes. Reed contacts were installed for monitoring the window position and on-site evaluation.
