Sliding windows from Baier turn containers into market stalls
As a simple and temporary solution, 15 containers were set up and supplied with electricity and water. But a collection of sales containers is far from being a market. A market lives from the presentation of goods and the exchange between traders and customers. Both create the special market atmosphere.
Vertical sliding windows as a place of communication and commerce
The architects at bogevischs buero have turned each container into a small sales booth – with wooden panelling and a canopy along its entire length. Seating, displays and wide staircases in front of the containers invite visitors to linger in the aisles and spaces in between.
The most important element are the large sliding windows with which the containers were equipped. They open the containers and allow them to be used permanently by letting in daylight. Everyone associates the sales windows with street vending – this directly creates an inviting and active atmosphere.
The planners relied on Baier to ensure that the sliding windows also deliver what they promise in terms of functionality. The metal construction expert and specialist for sliding windows manufactures customised sliding windows with horizontally or vertically sliding sashes.
Size, layout and operating technology can be selected individually. If required, Baier offers special solutions such as a frame open at the bottom for a continuous service counter or adaptations to tricky connection details.
Sliding window element with fixed glazing and movable window sash
Baier produced a total of 18 vertical sliding windows in three different dimensions for the interim market. With lengths of 219 cm and 319 cm and heights of 179 cm and 129 cm, all the sales windows are relatively large. This not only lets a lot of light into the interior, but also creates openness and communication.
The special thing about the sales windows is their division. They are divided horizontally in the middle. The lower part is fixed. This is where the traders can present their goods.
The upper half was again divided horizontally – into a movable sash at the bottom and fixed glazing above. The wing can be pushed completely upwards behind the fixed element.
Large shop window and service counter in one
By opening the sliding window over the entire length of the window, customers and traders can communicate. Many traders use it as a sales counter and serving point for their goods. Thanks to the space-saving window sash that slides upwards, goods can also be permanently presented here and an inviting atmosphere created.
Baier has coated the frames in RAL 1013 Pearl White to match the wood panelling. The sliding sash is operated by motor. Here, Baier relies on its own specially developed drive technology. Because even with the temporary solution, quality, durability and comfort are paramount.
Convincing with openness and professionalism
The demolition and rebuilding of the traditional Elisabethmarkt was associated with emotions and mixed feelings for many traders and citizens. The architects and planners have met this with a high level of willingness to communicate and plan together.
The interim market has already convinced everyone involved with its openness and high-quality design. The solution-oriented approach and the search for the best possible solution are in line with our philosophy.
