Summer – sun – ice cream …
Ten years ago, the Bury family opened the ice cream factory in Königschaffhausen. The ice cream was and is made exclusively from fully ripe fruit from the region and milk from Endingen. The former production facility was at its limit and so owner Edwin Bury moved the production of the regional ice cream to the Katharinenhof. The former Katharinen winery offers plenty of space and a special ambience, but the intention is to be able to develop the business in different directions with son Mario.
New production facility for the ice cream factory
In addition to a state-of-the-art ice cream kitchen, the new production facility also offers sufficient storage capacity for all the Kaiserstühl delicacies made by Bury. Interested parties have the option of booking a guided tour, so it will be possible to observe all production processes from the outside.
Automatic doors from Baier fitted the concept perfectly
Special regulations apply to the food industry. Particularly careful industrial hygiene is required when handling ice cream. Among other things, the walls and floor of the ice cream kitchen and processing rooms must be tiled or have a washable coating. The doors should also have a smooth surface so that everything is easy to clean. Likewise, special requirements are placed on the spatial conditions of the production facilities – for example, production rooms should not be passageways.
Automatic door with glass sash
When the regional fruits are delivered, they are first stored in a cold room. The seasonal fruit then passes through an automatic sliding door into a room for processing. Here, the automatic door with glass leaf scores points not only for space savings and hygiene but also for accessibility and the automatic opening process. Thanks to its mechanism, an automatic sliding door creates space in narrow places and facilitates access, even with fully loaded hands.
Contactless opening – Baier automatic doors with system
The ice cream laboratory, i.e. the production room where all the steps of ice cream production take place, is separated from the rest of the rooms by an automatic door. Here, too, a completely transparent glass door was installed, which allows a lot of light to enter and a clear view of the “glass production”. The 2-leaf automatic door is opened via a contactless switch. As high hygiene standards have to be maintained in the food industry, touch-free opening and closing fitted perfectly into the concept. The production area is separated from the other rooms, while at the same time smooth processes and automatic passage options are guaranteed on the part of the built-in automatic sliding door. The necessary working environment for ice cream production has thus been created – it can be licked perfectly, as the Kaiserstühler land ice cream slogan goes.
