Renovation of the old outdoor pool kiosk and its sales windows
The outdoor restaurant of the Schwarzwaldbad is located under the wide cantilevered roof of the service wing. It connects the indoor and outdoor pools. The changing rooms and sanitary facilities as well as a large relaxation room are located here.
It is easy to reach at the interface between the baths, but that’s where it stopped until now. Because too little space in the kiosk, outdated technology and poor ventilation made it difficult for the service staff.
The solution: Four large vertical sliding windows for smooth sales
Bühler Sportstätten GmbH used the winter of 2019/20 to thoroughly modernise the kiosk. The old sales building was almost completely dismantled. Only the supporting metal structure under the large roof overhang remained standing.
The planners took advantage of the freedom offered by the separation of the outer shell and the supporting structure. The new façade of the kiosk was fitted with four large vertical sliding windows, which will be able to serve the young and old visitors quickly and purposefully in the future.
Big flap – a lot behind it: Sliding windows in the outdoor pool kiosk
Food and drinks are sold at the two large sliding windows at the front. Two smaller sliding windows at the sides offer ice cream and sweets to the guests. This way, both inside and in front of the sales stand, the processes are better coordinated.
For the new sliding window system, the executing metal construction company trusted in Baier. As an expert for sliding windows and drive technology, the company not only offers high product quality, but has also convinced many with customised solutions.
No challenge is too great – or too difficult – for Baier
Baier developed and manufactured the four VSF 210 vertical sliding windows. Each element consists of a sliding window and fixed glazing as a skylight. Profiles and glazing were designed to match the architecture of the service wing.
The window frames were given a powder coating with pre-anodisation in the colour DB 703 smooth/matt (silver-grey). Special requirements were placed on the glazing. Of course, even in the best outdoor weather and despite large window areas, the interior should not heat up excessively. Baier therefore used heat-insulating solar control glazing. When choosing the glass manufacturer, Baier followed the planners’ specifications.
Powerful Baier drive technology
The dimensions of the windows are impressive. The two central elements for selling food and drinks are 1.93 metres wide and 1.84 metres high. The sliding element is therefore almost 2 x 1 metres. The two smaller sliding windows are 1.51 x 1.48 metres and 1.13 x 1.48 metres respectively.
With the large glass areas, the weight of the sliding sash naturally increases quickly – a challenge for the drive technology. All four vertical sliding windows are operated by a motor drive with Baiers control. In this way, everyone involved can be sure that in the future not only the service for the guests will function smoothly, but also the technology.
Relaxation is the order of the day – also in the construction process
Baier also offers its customers the best service. On request, experienced craftsmen install the sliding window systems. In this case, the installation was carried out by the customer. But on request, Baier sent a fitter to assist with the electrical connection of the vertical sliding windows.
