The metals added during production, such as copper, phosphorus, nickel, chromium and silicon, make the Corten steel weatherproof and weatherproof. After one to three weeks, the CorTen steel begins to rust on the surface, and the protective layer for the bare steel forms underneath. The rust patina makes Corten steel a popular and interesting building material for architects and artists.
