single-layer safety glass

With a special manufacturing process, tension is built up in the glass. As a result, single-layer safety glass disintegrates into a large number of small, blunt-edged splinters when subjected to excessive mechanical or thermal stress. The risk of injury from large, sharp-edged glass shards and cut edges is minimized with toughened safety glass.
