What does lifting window mean?

Lifting window
A lifting window is a window with opening direction upwards or downwards. The word “lift” describes the lifting movement from bottom to top. The common name for “lifting window” is “vertical sliding window”. Lifting windows can be operated manually or electrically with a powerful drive, depending on the size or requirements.
With lifting windows or vertical sliding windows, the movable window sash is pushed vertically upwards or downwards behind a fixed part. This type of window is used when the space in front of or behind the window is to be fully utilised. Lifting windows are ideal pass-throughs in the street sales of restaurants or ice cream parlours, in the dispensing of medicines in pharmacies, in porters’ lodges or libraries.
