What is fall-proof glazing?

Fall-preventing glazing is an element made of glass that is designed to prevent people from breaking through glass or falling from a great height. DIN 18008-4 Part 4 specifies the additional requirements for fall-preventing glazing.
A distinction is made between 3 categories:
– Category A: the glazing alone provides protection against falling
– Category B: a continuous handrail is also provided
– Category C: the glazing only has an infill function
