Cradle to Cradle (C2C)

Cradle to cradle describes a principle for a continuous and consistent circular economy. Resources are intended to be reused after the first use. The concept was developed in 2002 by Michael Braungart, a German chemist, and the American architect William McDonough.
When the Cradle to Cradle Certificate is awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, the products are tested in 5 different categories: material health (safety for humans and nature), recyclability of ingredients and packaging materials, use of renewable energies in production, more responsible Handling water, social fairness along the entire supply chain.
The overall award results from the sum of all five categories. The possible ratings are basic, silver, gold or platinum
