About the object

Whether high-strength fibres for fast cars, organic light-emitting diodes for flat displays or artificial corneas as eye implants: For 20 years, the Fraunhofer IAP has been researching and developing polymers for a wide variety of applications. Just in time for the anniversary, the second expansion stage of the institute was completed – the “Application Centre for Innovative Polymer Technologies”.
Baier was able to implement the wishes of the institute here: Baier provided hardware and drive technology and advised the executing company on the subject of sliding elements with fabric. These offer optimal sun protection and a reduction in room heating, with a high level of transparency from the inside to the outside, i.e. optimal daylight penetration even when the shutters are closed.

Cooperation and collaboration at its best

The system for privacy and sun protection is a creative sliding shutter solution that is moved by motor and exists partly as a fixed element. Entirely according to the customer’s wishes.
The second construction phase of the Fraunhofer IAP created an additional 94 new jobs.
Due to the different colours of the fabric of the individual shutters, the building always offers a different view. This enlivens the institute building and sets lively, colourful accents. The fabric is applied to the frame in such a way that the frame is concealed.

Textile sun protection for offices and workspaces

In addition, the entire façade surface is covered with a fixed fabric. The façade appears homogeneous, yet very lively due to the colour design of the sliding shutters and the mobility of the elements.

External sun protection with a sun protection fabric of this type has proven itself and is ideal for workrooms and computer workstations. It offers translucent light incidence, very good sun protection properties and is particularly weatherproof, low-maintenance and easy to care for.

Solar protection fabrics absorb solar radiation

The airy high-tech fabrics enliven the architecture. A variety of fabrics in all colours allow planners a high degree of design diversity. The semi-transparent fabrics provide pleasant shading and offer a high level of heat protection. In combination with the high-quality fittings and drives from Baier, this results in functional and decorative sun and privacy protection.
